Retailer Staging of new Store Equipment

Unburdening Retailers with the effort of new store start-up and equipment logistics.
Larger Retailers exchange a lot of devices and IT equipment in multiple shops over the year. This creates a real burden for them including:
Storing, assembling, preparing, configuring and testing of the devices, weights & measures stamping and shipping devices to the stores and sites to be able to start them up or exchange equipment within a very short time frame.

As a new service to a large grocery retail chain, Mettler Toledo Germany is now providing to REWE (No. 2 in the German Retail market) an equipment Staging Center . The facility is located in Giessen,  Germany. The Staging Center provides all staging activities for REWE’s POS and back office equipment on 1200 m². Approximately 1000 REWE stores will be prepared there following the customer’s requirements and shipped on schedule to the corresponding sites.

Many scales and other POS equipment will be assembled and verified by the MTemployees and will be configured and stamped before shipment. The Hardware ordered by REWE is being shipped to the MT Staging facilities for staging and commissioning. With this new service REWE has an opportunity for cost reduction due to the outsourcing, pool verification after the assembly of scales and scanners in the location of Mettler Toledo. This is also a real relief for REWE’s current space constraints.

A short delivery time to the corresponding REWE stores, before opening is guaranteed and a lot of components are tested before and ensure proper functionality and minimizing start-up issues when installed in the new store.
